a feature film - coming 2017

The filmmakers behind EMO KIDS, Alejandro Torroja and Kevin Lacy, met at the AFI Conservatory where they worked together as the principal team behind two short films: THE MAN WHO FOUND D.B. COOPER and their widely-acclaimed thesis short, YOUNG AMERICANS

KEVIN LACY earned his MFA in Film Directing from the prestigious AFI Conservatory where he was awarded the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award, the highest honor for an AFI directing fellow. His ten short films have earned top awards in international competitions and film festivals and garnered over a million online views. His unproduced first feature script (written with Alejandro Torroja), MIDNIGHT SOULS, was selected as a 2015 Academy Nicholl Fellowship Semi-Finalist.

Kevin tried and mostly failed to rock the shit out of small-town Utah for ten years in pop-punk/emo bands Billygoo22, The Maple Street Kids, Stay For the Summer and The Candidate.

ALEJANDRO TORROJA, a native of Barcelona, Spain gave up a career in law to pursue his true passion of filmmaking. At the AFI Conservatory he produced six short films and was awarded a College Emmy from the Television Academy for his AFI thesis film YOUNG AMERICANS (directed by Kevin Lacy). After graduation Alejandro worked as a Production and Acquisitions Executive for K5 International. He has since struck out on his own as an independent producer.

Alejandro had never heard of emo until he met Kevin but his love of music of all kinds is unparalleled.
